  • The Ersari tribe is one of the five major tribes of Turkmenistan. Since these tribes travel between regions, their weaving techniques evolve. The filpaya, most popularly known as the elephant foot pattern is synonymous with the Turkmen tribes. The Ersari people have further enhanced this pattern by creating an octagonal shape of the main design and weaving it adeptly using fine wool. The sheen and intricacy of this carpet speak of the craftsmanship and quality of raw material used.
