Restoring damaged or worn carpets is a labor-intensive craft that requires immense skill and uses traditional techniques that not every weaver has mastered.
Normal damages are fixable
At the Carpet Cellar, we use hand-spun fibres that have been recycled from old carpets and kilims to achieve seamless results. Using fine micron wool, our restoration experts create a weave to restore the carpet base with as much precision and accuracy as possible.
As part of our endeavour to uplift women in society, the Carpet Cellar has trained several locals as restoration experts, with centuries-old techniques such as vegetable dying and fringing used. These specialised skills are honed over a significant period and we pride ourselves in investing the time and resources to create a workforce that can adeptly handle all kinds of restoration work.
