Our flatweave rugs are handwoven on a loom, thus do not have the thick pile of hand-knotted rugs, which is what differentiates them. Traditionally a popular choice in warmer regions, flatweave rugs are usually made in cotton, although the more durable flatweaves of our Kilims are made from wool.
Flatweave rugs are similar to dhurries, and are lighter and easier to move around. They’re a great choice for larger rooms and work well as area rugs or layered over heavier rugs for a wonderfully bohemian look. Flatweave rugs are available in a wide range of patterns, including modern graphic or minimal designs as well as in the more ornate shapes of vintage floor art from Persia and other regions.
Because they are easier to maintain, acquire, and use, you may like to choose flatweave rugs for areas of high foot traffic, for seasonal changes in décor, or as statement rugs to define separate spaces in a large room.
